Tree Lighting Ceremony at the National Harbor-Starting November 14 through January 3, ignite your holiday spirit with the nightly lighting of the 56-foot tree and two million twinkling lights in the National Harbor Waterfront District. This free-to-frequent downtown bazaar will expand its space this year to account for social distancing. Centrally located in front of the Smithsonian American Art Museum and National Portrait Gallery, the beloved market will stretch across two blocks of F Street between 7th and 9th streets this year. Scope out eclectic wares from dozens of pop-up tents with seasonally flavored music performed live in the background. Locally roasted coffee and crafted-before-your-eyes mini-doughnuts inspire a cold-weather appetite, creating a holiday atmosphere you won't find anywhere else in DC. Beginning Black Friday, Victura Park at The REACH will transform into an outdoor holiday market featuring local artisans, craftspersons and an array of specialized vendors. Masks will be required, hand sanitizer will be available and space heaters will be placed throughout the park. A menu featuring light snacks, grilled items, beer, wine, spiked cider and hot chocolate will be available. The legendary Ford's Theatre has officially reopened! During the first level of reopening, the museum is welcoming visitors from Wednesday through Sunday and will be closed on Monday and Tuesday. Only the museum and theatre are open currently; the Petersen House and Aftermath Exhibits remain closed. Future ticket releases will be on Fridays at 10 a.m. for the following Wednesday-Sunday. Visit reopened galleries at the National Gallery of Art
The National Gallery of Art has reopened the galleries east of the Rotunda on the West Building's main floor. These spaces include 18th- and 19th-century French paintings and sculpture in addition to notable works from British and American artists and the temporary exhibition, True to Nature: Open-Air Painting in Europe, 1780-1870, which will close on Nov. 15. Note that on Nov. 16, additional Main Floor galleries west of the Rotunda will reopen. Timed passes are required for entry to the museum. Please make sure to follow all of the museum's safety guidelines, including wearing a mask.
