One of the oldest and most beautiful buildings in the nation's capital, the White House is a living museum of American history.
Take a guided tour of the furnishings and artwork, while learning about the house's history and former inhabitants. Constructed between 1792 & 1800, the White House offers a collection of significant artworks by American and European artists and craftsmen, including a full-length portrait of George Washington by Gilbert Stuart. See historic paintings, sculptures, unique architectural features and rare china, as you walk the hallowed halls of the official home and office of the U.S. President. Guided tours take you behind the scenes and give insight into this treasured American attraction.

  • Can I Take A tour of the White House?

    All White House tours must be scheduled through your congressional representative at least 21 days in advance. Self-guided tours are available from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays (excluding federal holidays). Since tours are available on a first come, first serve basis, it's best to schedule your tour months in advance. West Wing tours are available by invitation only.
  • Is there a visitor's center at the White House?

    Located at 1450 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, the White House Visitor Center is open from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. daily. The facility offers a window into the president's iconic home through an interactive touchscreen tour. Guests are able to look at over 90 artifacts, view films and shop at the White House Historical Association retail store.
